Putting Challenge utilizes a unique flexible play field
surface, adjusted by the games computer, to simulate the contours of real golf greens
achieving dramatic realism.
Every time the ball is hit during the game, it passes a
sensor that detects the ball in the play area. The game then expects the ball to go into
the hole, roll off the play field, or stay on the play field. If the ball goes in the hole
it is sensed by a micro switch which registers the score and a crowd cheer sound is heard.
If the ball rolls off the play field, it rolls through the return system and rests in the
ball ejector cup. The game then registers points accordingly.
If the ball rests on the play field it will then move the
surface until the ball is rolled off. The appropriate score is then displayed. If, during
that time, the surface moves to clear the ball and it rolls back to the player, a
one stroke penalty, player try again, statement will be heard, and the player
will re-take his turn.
